SkyTouch Technology once again had the honor of being an integral part of the hotel industry’s leading technology conference, and it may have been the most exciting one yet. It’s called the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference, commonly known as HITEC, and was the first ever edition in Toronto, Canada.
The 45th annual event is hosted by the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) organization, and boy has this show come a long way since 1972.
According to Frank Wolfe, CAE, CEO at HFTP, in an article appearing in Hospitality Technology magazine, “2017 has been an exceptionally ground-breaking year for both HFTP and its HITEC brand.”
For us here at SkyTouch, it was a rewarding experience connecting with both existing, and potentially new customers. In fact, the attendees we saw this year were extremely focused on the products and services they were researching, especially cloud based systems such as the SkyTouch Hotel OS®.
Unlike many other PMS systems that are either premise based, or are somewhere in between, the SkyTouch Hotel OS® has been native to the cloud right from its start 10 years ago. That provides unparalleled ability to serve our customers. And people are taking notice.
Our team attending HITEC came away excited at the high-quality attendees, and their interest in exploring how they can better their business acumen, and profit potential, by leveraging the power of the cloud. It appeared to us there were more decision makers at this event than ever before, a great sign for the health and vibrancy of the hotel industry. And incidentally, an exciting opportunity for us to directly connect with industry influencers, high level executives, and brand stewards.
It was fulfilling connecting with existing customers and hearing wonderful feedback regarding how SkyTouch is constantly upgrading its product with new features and functionality, many of which were proposed by customers. Many also remarked about the high level of customer service they experience when calling our Phoenix based customer care team, and the momentum and growth of the company in general they’ve witnessed in the four years SkyTouch has participated in HITEC.
Our on the ground team also noticed a major shift in how people coming to our booth interacted with cloud technology. We’re in a post educational world now regarding this technology’s use within the hospitality industry, and rather than express curiosity about software as a service (SaaS) technology, attendees were highly focused on learning about SkyTouch product features and future plans for the company.
We were pleasantly surprised to see not only representatives of independent hotels engaged, but also representatives from major hotel brands and management companies as well. They left impressed by the ability of SkyTouch to not only deliver a well-executed property management system solution, but also a high-level training and implementation for new users.
SkyTouch is facilitating as many as 170 installs in a month, and recently installed 250 hotels in six months to a single hotel brand.
